The Profit and Loss Statement in Wafeq helps you track your business performance accurately by showing revenues, costs, and operating expenses over a defined period so you know exactly how much profit or loss your business has made.

The Profit and Loss Statement helps you:
Measure the actual financial performance of your business for a specific period (monthly, quarterly, or annually).
Analyze the relationship between income and costs to identify areas of profit or loss.
Support operational decisions such as reducing expenses or adjusting pricing strategies.

How to view and understand the Profit and Loss Statement in Wafeq
To view the report:
Go to the “Reports” section in the main menu, Click on “Profit and Loss” under the “Financial Reports” section.
Note: You can pin the “Profit and Loss” if you use it frequently, making it easier to access quickly. For more information, refer to this guide:
Reports Interface
You’ll see a detailed summary of revenues, costs, and expenses for the selected period.
You may sometimes need to quickly understand what’s behind a number while reviewing your Profit and Loss report.
Simply hover your mouse over any number in the report, and a box will appear showing:
The top 5 transactions contributing to that number
The date of each transaction
Its description
Its amount
This gives you an instant explanation without needing to open the full transactions page.
Tracking Data Trends Across Time Periods
Sparklines displayed alongside each line item in the" Profit and Loss" provide a clear visual representation of how values change across the selected time periods, making it easier to identify trends, increases, and decreases at a glance.
Hover over a sparkline to view the value for each specific time period in more detail.
You can also perform the following actions directly from the top of the report:
Select or enter a custom date range: You can select the time period by choosing a predefined period, entering a custom period, or using the time range slider to adjust the start and end points and select the required months.
- You can also select the desired time period directly, and the report will display data based on the months included within the selected range.
Choose the reporting currency
Filter results by supplier, customer, branch, project, or cost center
Export the report as a PDF or Excel file
Comparison Options in Profit and Loss Reports
Using the Comparison Options in Profit and Loss reports, you can control how data is displayed and compared with previous periods, as well as define the time unit, the order in which periods are displayed, and the level of detail included in the report.
Show % Change
You can choose how the percentage change is displayed:
- Don't Show: Do not display the percentage change.
- Month-over-Month: Show the percentage change compared to the previous month.
- Quarter-over-Quarter: Show the percentage change compared to the previous quarter.
- Year-over-Year: Show the percentage change compared to the same period in the previous year.
Period Unit
You can select the time unit used for the comparison:
- Month: Display and compare data on a monthly basis.
- Quarter: Display and compare data on a quarterly basis.
- Year: Display and compare data on a yearly basis.
Date direction
You can choose how the time periods are arranged in the report:
- Oldest to Newest.
- Newest to Oldest.
Breakdown
You can select the level of detail you want to display:
- No Breakdown.
- By Branch.
- By Cost Center.
- By Project.
Once the data is displayed, Wafeq allows you to view it in two ways: either by Parent Accounts only, or by Parent and Sub-Accounts.
