In this guide, you’ll learn how to appoint Wafeq as your Accredited Service Provider (ASP) for e-invoicing in the UAE through the EmaraTax platform. We’ll walk you through the process step by step, from initiating the connection in Wafeq to completing the authorization process, so you can connect your business to Wafeq and prepare for the UAE’s e-invoicing requirements.
For more information about e-invoicing in the UAE and how Wafeq can help, refer to this guide.
Steps to Appoint Wafeq as Your Accredited Service Provider (Connecting to EmaraTax)
From your Wafeq account, click "Settings" in the main menu, then select "Organization settings".
Click "Connect" next to FTA e-invoicing.
- TRN: Connecting to EmaraTax is not limited to businesses registered for VAT. If your business is registered for VAT, enter your TRN in the designated field. If it isn’t, remove the field using the delete icon next to it.
- TIN: Enter your business’s Tax Identification Number (TIN). If your business is registered with the Federal Tax Authority for any tax type, the TIN is the first 10 digits of your TRN. If your business isn’t registered for any tax type, you can obtain a TIN through the EmaraTax platform.
- Identifier Type and Number: Select the identifier that applies to your business, such as a commercial registration number or an identity number, then enter the corresponding number as it appears on the official document. This identifier is used to verify the identity of the business or individual.
- Who approves in EmaraTax?: Select "Me" if you can sign in to the business’s EmaraTax account yourself. If someone else has access, such as the business owner, select "Someone else" (see below).
- If you selected "Me", click "Continue to Wafeq ASP".
If you selected "Someone else", click "Get link". You’ll get a link for whoever signs in to the business’s EmaraTax account, so you can send it to them to complete the connection. They don’t need a Wafeq account.
Then click "Go to EmaraTax".
In EmaraTax, click "View" to display your business details.
Click "E-INVOICING" in the main menu.
Confirm that you have read the terms and instructions, then click "Start".
Then click "Proceed".
- Go to the "List of ASPs" tab.
- Select Wafeq.
- Then click "Proceed to ASP".
Then click "Yes".
Important: When you’re asked for your email, enter the email of the admin of your EmaraTax account. If you use another user’s email, the verification fails.
Enter the required information and confirm your consent to the connection, as shown in the following screens:
Continue until you are redirected to Wafeq and see a confirmation message indicating that the connection was successful.
After You Connect
Your connection details appear in the "FTA e-invoicing" section of "Organization settings", including your e-invoicing address and the date from which sending and reporting are active.
By default, invoices are sent and reported from the day you connect. To choose a different start date, click "Change date". Invoices dated before the start date are out of scope and aren’t reported to the FTA.
Note: Appointing your ASP and starting to send e-invoices are two separate deadlines. For example, businesses with annual revenue of AED 50 million or more had to appoint an ASP by 30 October 2026, but must start sending e-invoices from 1 January 2027.
You can also confirm the connection in EmaraTax: under E-Invoicing > Linkage status, Wafeq appears as your ASP.
Changing or Removing Your ASP
To stop using Wafeq as your ASP or to move to another provider, start from EmaraTax: go to E-Invoicing > Linkage status, choose Offboarding next to Wafeq, and complete the steps. This can’t be done from Wafeq, as it is an EmaraTax requirement.
