Answers to common questions about importing e-invoices from Excel in the ASP portal. For the full steps, refer to How to Send E-Invoices from an Excel File in the Wafeq E-Invoicing ASP Portal (UAE).
Where do I download the Excel template?
In the ASP portal, go to Files > New import, choose the Document type, and click Download Excel template.
Which document types can I import?
Invoices, credit notes, self-billed invoices and self-billed credit notes.
How do I import an invoice with more than one line?
Use one row per invoice line. Repeat the same taxpayer_id and invoice number on every row of that invoice, and complete the invoice and customer details on the first row.
Where do I find the taxpayer_id?
Open Taxpayers in the portal and click the business. The Taxpayer ID starts with txpay_.
Which fields are required?
Every row needs the taxpayer_id and invoice number. The first row of each invoice also needs the issue date, currency and customer details, and invoices need a due_date. Each line needs a description, quantity, unit price, tax category and tax rate. If the currency isn’t AED, add currency_exchange_rate. Credit notes must reference the original invoice.
How do I enter the VAT rate and tax category?
Choose the tax category from the dropdown: S standard rate, Z zero-rated, E exempt, O outside scope, AE reverse charge. Enter the rate as a plain number: 5 for 5%, not 0.05. For E and O lines, add an exemption reason.
Are there file size limits?
Yes. Each file can have up to 50,000 rows, 5,000 documents and 25 MiB.
Can I import a CSV file?
Yes. The portal accepts CSV and Excel files, but we recommend the Excel template because it includes dropdowns and a note for every column.
Which invoices can’t be imported from Excel?
Export, e-commerce, summary, deemed supply and continuous supply invoices need fields that are available only through the API.
