Answers to common questions about FTA reporting requirements for e-invoices.
Do UAE e-invoices have a QR code?
No. Unlike Saudi Arabia, UAE e-invoices don’t carry a QR code.
Can I download the XML of a reported invoice?
Yes. In Wafeq Accounting, you can download the XML of an invoice after it has been reported.
Is reporting to the FTA the same as delivering the invoice to my customer?
No. They are two separate steps that can succeed or fail independently: reporting sends the invoice data to the FTA, and delivery sends the invoice to your customer’s provider over Peppol. Wafeq shows a separate status for each.
Can a seller who isn’t VAT registered charge 5% VAT?
No. A seller who isn’t VAT registered can’t issue invoices with the standard 5% rate; only exempt, outside scope or, in some cases, zero-rated lines can be used. Invoices with an incorrect tax rate are rejected.
Are invoices reported to the FTA from the ASP portal Sandbox?
No. Nothing is reported to the FTA from Sandbox. In the portal, the Tax report column shows Disabled in Sandbox.
