In the Chart of Accounts, some accounts have a padlock icon 🔒. This means that you cannot delete these accounts.
There are three main reasons you won't be able to delete an account: it's a system account, a linked account, or the account has transactions.
System accounts
System accounts are special accounts that Wafeq needs to generate reports such as VAT returns, Profit & Loss or Aged Receivables and Payables reports.
The system accounts that are created in every chart of accounts are:

Asset Accounts Receivable | Keeps track of amounts that customers owe you. Used in:

Liability Accounts Payable | Keeps track of amounts that you owe suppliers. Used in:

Liability Payroll Payable | Keeps track of amounts that suppliers owe you. Used in:

Liability Employee Reimbursements and its sub-accounts | Keeps track of expense claim reimbursements that you owe your employees. Used in:

Asset Inventory | Keeps track of total inventory value. This is a non-posting parent account to warehouse accounts. |
Equity Retained Earnings | Keeps track of total profit up until the previous financial year. |
Expense Exchange Gain or Loss | Records gains or losses that result from differences in exchange rates. |
Liability VAT | Keeps track of Input and Output VAT. |
Linked accounts
Linked accounts are accounts that are created when you create any of the following:
- A bank account. Bank accounts are created from the Bank Accounts page.
- An employee. A reimbursements account is created in the name of the employee.
- A warehouse. An inventory account is created in the name of the warehouse.
