Wafeq's integration with Claude lets you work with your accounting data in plain language. Once you connect them, you can ask Claude about your invoices, bills, contacts, payments and reports, or ask it to create and update records for you, without switching screens or exporting data.
Wafeq is added to Claude as a custom connector. Claude always acts as you, so it can only see and do what your role allows, and only in the organizations you choose to share.
Key Benefits
- Get instant answers about your business, such as overdue invoices, your profit and loss for a period, or your cash position.
- Create invoices, quotes, bills, contacts, payments and journal entries by simply describing them in a chat.
- Review reports such as Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Aged Receivables and VAT reports without building them manually.
- Work across several organizations from one chat, and choose exactly which ones Claude can access.
- Stay in control: access follows your Wafeq role, you can connect in read-only mode, and you can turn Wafeq on or off for each chat.
Before You Begin
- You need a Wafeq account with access to at least one organization.
- You need a Claude account. Custom connectors are available on Claude's Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. On the Free plan, you can add one custom connector.
- If you use Claude through your company (Team or Enterprise plan), a Claude Owner needs to add Wafeq for the organization first. See "If You Use Claude Through Your Company" below.
- Sign in to both Wafeq and Claude in the same browser before you start.
How to Access the Claude Integration in Wafeq

From the bottom of the main menu, click "Settings", then select "Integrations" under Set up.
Step 2: Add a new integration
Click "+ Add integration" at the top of the page.
Step 3: Select Claude
Find Claude in the list of available integrations and click "Connect".
Step 4: Keep the "Connect Claude" window open
The "Connect Claude" window shows the connection steps, a link to Claude's connectors page, your connection link and a ready-made starter prompt. Use the "Copy" buttons to copy the link and the prompt when you need them.
How to Connect Wafeq with Claude
Step 1: Open Claude's connectors page
In the "Connect Claude" window, click "Claude's connectors page". You can also open Claude and go to Customize > Connectors.
Step 2: Add a custom connector
Click "+ Add", then select "Add custom connector".
Step 3: Enter Wafeq's details
Type Wafeq as the name, paste the link you copied from Wafeq into the server URL field, and click "Continue". Leave the advanced settings empty.
Step 4: Add the connector
Click "Continue" again, then click "Add". Leave the settings as they are.
Step 5: Choose the organizations and permissions in Wafeq
Wafeq opens in a new tab. If it doesn't, find Wafeq in your connectors list in Claude and click "Connect".
On the page "Choose the organizations to connect to Claude":
- Check the email address shown under Organizations. Claude will act as this user. If it isn't your account, click "Log out" and sign in with the correct one.
- Select the organizations Claude can access. You can search for an organization or use "Select all". Your role in each organization appears next to its name.
- Read data is always included. Allow changes lets Claude create, update, post, approve and delete records when your role allows it. Leave it ticked if you'd like Claude to add things for you, or untick it to connect in read-only mode.
Click "Connect". You'll be taken back to Claude, and Wafeq appears as connected in your connectors list.
If You Use Claude Through Your Company
On Claude's Team and Enterprise plans, members can't add custom connectors themselves:
- A Claude Owner adds Wafeq once from Organization settings > Connectors, using the same name (Wafeq) and link.
- Each member then opens Customize > Connectors in Claude, finds Wafeq and clicks "Connect".
- Wafeq opens in a new tab, where each member chooses their own organizations and permissions, as described in Step 5 above.
For more details, see Claude's help page.
How to Use Wafeq in Claude
- Start a new chat in Claude.
- Click "+" below the message box, open "Connectors" and turn on Wafeq.
- Paste the starter prompt from the "Connect Claude" window, then send it:
"Look at my Wafeq account and show me what you can do for me."
Claude checks which organizations it can access and replies with a summary of your organizations and the tasks it can help you with based on your access. The first time Claude uses a Wafeq tool, it may ask for your permission. Review the request and choose whether to allow it.
What You Can Ask Claude to Do
- Financial reports: Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Trial Balance and General Ledger.
- Customer collections: find overdue invoices, review receivables and download customer statements of account.
- Sales: create quotes, invoices and credit notes, and convert quotes into invoices.
- Purchases and expenses: record bills and cash expenses, create purchase orders and review aged payables.
- Banking: review bank transactions and match them with invoices, bills or journal entries.
- VAT and ZATCA: review VAT return and VAT summary reports, and report invoices to ZATCA when e-invoicing is enabled for your organization.
- Inventory and manufacturing: items, inventory adjustments, inventory counts and production orders.
- Payroll and assets: employees, payroll, payslips, fixed assets and depreciation.
- Bookkeeping: manual journals, chart of accounts, cost centers and projects.
Example Prompts
- "Show me last month's profit and loss and compare it with the month before."
- "Which customer invoices are overdue, and what's the total amount?"
- "Create a draft invoice for [customer name] for 5 hours of consulting at 500 SAR per hour, including VAT."
- "List the unpaid bills that are due this week."
- "Record a payment of 2,000 SAR received from [customer name] against invoice INV-0012."
Managing and Disconnecting the Integration
Go to Settings > Integrations in Wafeq. Claude appears with the "Connected" status. Click the people list (for example, "1 person") to see who connected Claude to this organization and when. Click "Disconnect" next to your connection to stop Claude from accessing Wafeq.
- To use Wafeq only in some chats, turn it on or off from "+" > "Connectors" in each chat.
- To remove Wafeq from Claude, go to Customize > Connectors, open Wafeq and remove it.
- To connect again, click "+ Add integration" in Wafeq, then "Connect" next to Claude, and repeat the steps above.
User Permissions and Security
- Claude acts as you: it can only view and do what your role allows in each organization. For example, if your role can't approve bills, Claude can't approve them either.
- Only the organizations you select are shared. To change them, disconnect and connect again.
- Read-only access: untick "Allow changes" while connecting if you only want Claude to read your data.
- Personal connection: each user connects their own Claude account. Your connection doesn't give other team members access, even when a Claude Owner has added Wafeq for the whole company.
- Access duration: access lasts up to 90 days. Changing your Wafeq password also ends it. You can reconnect at any time.
- Confirmation before irreversible actions: Claude is instructed to ask for your confirmation before actions that can't be undone, such as deleting records, reporting invoices to ZATCA, or emailing documents to customers. Always review what Claude is about to do before you confirm.
Limitations and Important Notes
- Wafeq records accounting entries but doesn't transfer money. Claude can record a payment in Wafeq, but it can't send or receive funds.
- What Claude can do depends on your Wafeq plan. Features that aren't included in your plan, such as advanced consolidation or revenue recognition, aren't available to Claude.
- AI can make mistakes. Review the records Claude creates, especially amounts, taxes, dates and accounts, before you finalize or post them.
- On Claude's Free plan, you can add only one custom connector.
- Claude's screens may change over time, so some button names may differ slightly from the screenshots in this article.
Troubleshooting
- "Add custom connector" isn't available: your Claude account is part of a Team or Enterprise plan. Ask your Claude Owner to add Wafeq, then click "Connect" next to Wafeq in Customize > Connectors.
- Wafeq didn't open in a new tab: find Wafeq in Customize > Connectors and click "Connect". Make sure your browser isn't blocking pop-ups.
- Claude doesn't use Wafeq in a chat: click "+" > "Connectors" and make sure Wafeq is turned on.
- Claude can't find an organization: the organization wasn't selected while connecting. Disconnect, then connect again and select it.
- Claude can't create or edit records: you connected in read-only mode, or your role in that organization doesn't allow the action.
- The connection stopped working: access may have expired after 90 days, or your Wafeq password was changed. Connect again.
